About

I was born in the South Pacific and moved around in my early years. My family moved to Forest Grove when I was 10 years old. That is when I first met my future wife, Sara, more about that in a minute. During my high school years, my house was always filled with friends. I’m not sure if they came over to visit me or to eat my mom’s Chamorro food. I remember their eyes lighting up when the Adobo, Pancit, and Lumpia were ready, but little did they know that my mom was more excited that she had a houseful of hungry teens she could cook for! I always dreamed that someday I could recreate that joy.

Remember Sara? Well we ran into each other again in our mid 20’s. We had way more in common than we did in middle school and decided to get married a few years later. I told her about my dream of one day owning an island restaurant and she put my dreams into motion. We purchased a food cart in 2014 and called it Miget’s Island Grill, which is Mike’s name in Chamorro. Within 6 months we realized that we had outgrown the cart and were looking for permanent location. Our restaurant opened in November 2015! We love that friends and family can stop by anytime and grab a bite!
